U11 registered the highest Net score of the weekend for the club in their victory against Dales U11, outscoring all 3 senior teams. Clearly they have a lot to teach the senior batters on batting discipline, if the comments circulating at Tuesday net practice are anything to go by! ?
Starting at 200, the team added 141without losing any wickets at all in a disciplined display where every player did their bit. It’s hard to pick out any individuals as all of Captain Pratley’s band demonstrated that they know how to defend a good ball and hit the bad one. There wasn’t a single Hampton Dene Hoick on display as all the boundaries came from proper cricket shots. Top 5 attacking shots of the day came from Arthur, Jacob, Isaac, Ryan and Albie; Rosie, Sam and Jess were resolute in defence and Levi and Aidan ran and called very well between the wickets. It was clear that the whole team had learned from Supercoach Nick’s training session last Thursday as there were only 2 close calls, including a classic Yes! No! Wait! Sorry! (Luckily the throw missed), as opposed to at least 15 the previous week.
When we came on to bowl, there was some strong, accurate bowling from all. Even though not as successful as last week, there were fewer wides and more balls on the stumps. Ryan and Jess were much improved from last week, but everyone still needs to work bowling to a plan. Fielding was once again exemplary, with 2 run outs and a couple of missed opportunities; poor old Arthur catching a fired in return with his head rather than his hands! The good news is he was ok after an HIA by his rugby playing Dad and was able to continue, almost contributing to another run out.
Congrats to all; P7 W6 L1, 3 to go.
