In a spirited 8 a side match at Bartestree, despite the Women's World Cup Final, the Dads prevailed by 65 runs.
Captained by the respective Pratleys, the sides went head to head in a highly anticipated match.
Jake won the toss and elected to bowl, and bowlers expected to face up against their repective parent/offspring, it was Avi and Ryley who took the new ball against Pradeep and Mike. It was a good start for the Dads and despite Mike being castled by Avi, the first 4 overs brought 35 for the loss of just one wicket.
Neil McShane and Steve Badham were next and the rate slowed as the bowlers and fielders did their job. Lucas conceded just 3 in his 2 overs, including a maiden and Jess was particularly impressive in 2nd over. Only 15 were added and after 8 overs %0-1 was posted.
Sam Dutton went 1-0 in the Dutton face off, bowling Tim in his first over but after that David Bryant helped Tim consolidate, showing that he too could play the Hampton Dene Hoick. Between them, they brought the total to 67-2 with 4 overs to go.
The last pair of Sam Pratley and Neil Lawson then came to the wicket with the express purpose of bring the score past 100 gross and 200 net.
They did this with an array of attacking shots, sound defence and quick running, easing past their target to leave the U11 302 to win.
Once again fielding was sharp and bowling was accurate for U11 with only 4 wides bowled.
Batting proved tough for U11 but they fought well. No mercy was shown by the Dads with plenty of sledging, the dodgy appeals and long run ups.
Jake and Noah opened up against Sam and David and despite losing noahs wicket once in the first over, both hit a 4 in a total of 11-1.
Avi and Ryan also tried their best agains Pradeep and Neil, but the accuracy of the bowling proved too much and they lost 3 wickets in geeting U11 to 7-4 after 8 overs.
Then came a fantastic partnership of 31 between Lucas and Ryley. Fantastic running between the wickets, a wonderful four of Mike Bethell and some unfortunate wides helped them get the team to 38-4 after 12.
Jess and Sam brought up the rear against Tim and Steve Badham. Tim brought the Dutton score to 1-1 by bowling Sam in the first over, but after resolute defence it was not until the very last over that another wicket fell and the score finished at 236-6 net. Well done to Jess for not getting out.
SO the Dads were victorious this year...lets see what happens next! Thanks everyone
