The U11 bounced back from the disappointment of Cup Semi-Final defeat to beat Burghill and Tillington in a make up fixture.
Both teams were affected by holiday absences, but nevertheless got full teams out for this friendly pairs fixture.
Despite early morning rain in Burghill, our opponents Manager Krissie Stevenson managed to pull rabbits out of the hat to get the game on, albeit on the artificial surface. This was really good news for players and parents alike as once again a sizeable crowd turned out.
Noah again agreed to be captain, with Arthur and Ryan as his assistants and after winning the toss he chose to field first.
As we have become accustomed to, after a difficult first over where we conceded 3 boundaries, the bowling tightened up considerably and the fielding was almost as good again as the Semi-Final, even though the ball was damp from the rain. Ryan and Thomas both made great boundary saves.
Our primary wicket takers were Sam, Arthur and Albie, who finished the innings off with 2 clean bowled. However, all those who bowled, including Jess, Ryan, Thomas, Rosie, Ryley Austin and Lucas did themselves proud and continue to show great improvement.
Batting was back to its normal consistency when our turn cam to bat. We only lost 2 wickets and there was barely a Hampton Dene Hoick in sight. Calling and backing up as non striking batter were both noticeably better than in the Semi-Final and consequently running between the wickets was rapid and risk free.
High scorer was Arthur with 17 but nearly everyone made tidy contributions.
There are probably 2 games left; a parents game on Sunday 20th and Bromyard on 27th
See you soon.
