RIP Nigel, our chairman and more importantly our friend

RIP Nigel, our chairman and more importantly our friend

Forever, up the tree

With great sadness, we share the news of the passing of our Chairman, Nigel Shore.

Nigel bravely faced his battle with leukaemia and, even through illness, remained dedicated to the club and confident he’d overcome it. Sadly, that battle came to an end last week.

Our heartfelt thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his wife Barbara, his sons, and all of his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

Nigel wasn’t just our Chairman — he was a pillar of the club, the community, and a friend to everyone. From the very beginning, he helped shape not only the cricket club, but also the football club and the wider village facilities. Many of us began our sporting journeys with Nigel at the heart of it.

His passion, leadership, and countless hours of dedication built the thriving club we’re so proud of today — with strong junior and women’s sections that continue to grow.

It’s heartbreaking to share that Nigel has now played his final innings, but his legacy will live on for generations to come.

There are no words to truly describe the hole left in everyone’s lives by this loss. A true gentleman.

RIP Nigel, forever up the tree.
