Results update from the weekend 13th August

So much to celebrate!

Every Club has its ups and downs, and we have had ours over the years, but right now it really feels as though B&LCC is flying high, in so many ways.

1st XI, always the flagship for the Club, clocked up another fine win yesterday, at home to Enville. Despite the previous night's celebrations at Simon's wedding (congratulations Si!) they put together a series of impressive knocks to post a decent target - and then dismissed Enville in short order - paceman Adam Davies clean bowling four for just 9 runs. With Himley losing, we move up to 2nd place and a promotion spot.

Our fledgling Women's Softball team ventured out of the county to play Aston Ingham on Thursday. Tharindi's report in Breaking News provides the feel for the fantastic atmosphere and enjoyment, as they won handsomely.

The 3rd XI are another success story - now firmly top of the WCL Marches Division 3 with a big win against Luctonians yesterday. A huge positive for the Club this year has been the progress of some very talented youngsters into senior cricket, bringing their experienced dads with them - result being an excellent pool of players for the 3rds - and 2nds - and a great supportive family atmosphere.

So near yet so far for the 2nds yesterday - surely 249 must be a winning total? Lee Bartlett's excellent unbeaten 90, supported by Robbo on 59 set the big target. But sadly, holidays had deprived the 2s of their usual bowlers and Worcester crept over the line on the last ball.

The Junior season is coming to an end - the Under 11s bowed out in the Cup semi-finals last Sunday and the Under 13s went down to a powerful Eastnor side on Wednesday. The season has seen some fine performances from all the junior teams. Our gratitude to the coaches knows no bounds - for the huge efforts that they put in, not only to the technical coaching, but also in imbuing a great team spirit and sheer enthusiasm for the game.

The Ball! 5 weeks to go - please book your tickets now! It is going to be a fantastic evening to round off a great summer for the Club. http://www.buytickets.at/bartlugcc/900052
