Before I begin my match report, I was in need of a 12th man this Saturday due to a player needing to leave early. Within 2 minutes of asking, I had one. Thank you Ben Nicoll for doing this, it was much appreciated.

The 2s hosted Garnons this weekend. Conversations were flowing on the WhatsApp group all week about how much rain we would have ; as it was, we started on time, we won the toss and bowled first, but were off three times for showers meaning the innings of Garnons only went 36 overs. Dom set us up nicely with a great wicket in the 3rd over, the ball moving all over the shop. From then on, it was really tough going. We bowled far too loosely, and with a late flurry of wickets, Garnons posted 275 - 6 adjusted to 297-6 via DLS. Elliot bowled superbly well and showed great control with his leg spin, in wet, unhelpful conditions.

Chris and I walked out to open and set off at a good lick. Chris was looking in good touch and was unlucky to see one stick and cut in the pitch, out caught behind. Robbo joined me and at one point we were ahead of the required rate, 105 - 1 off 13. However, we both departed in back to back overs, awful from me to get out so soon after Robbo, apologies all, and from then on in it was much tougher. Pete Richards steadied us with a 40* and Ethan's quick fire 24 had 216 in sight for us for 5 batting points, but we fell just short on 213.

A tough day at the office with the ball but the batting is certainly firing on all cylinders at present.
